Recreational Tahr Hunter Engagement Survey 2025 & Tahr Control Maps
DOC has released updated maps as part of the 2024/25 Tahr Control Operational Plan (TCOP), which now include ground-based control zones. These sit alongside last year’s bull sighting data and aerial control activity.

In addition, DOC has made available new information on Aerially-Assisted Trophy Hunting (AATH) concessions — showing unit boundaries, date ranges, and downloadable location data.

NZDA continues to work behind the scenes to ensure recreational hunters are represented and that data-driven, fair, and sustainable management of the tahr herd remains a priority.
